The Director of Commercial and Communications at News Central TV, Rosemary Egabor-Afolahan, has been recognised among the Top 50 Most Influential Women in Marketing and Communications at the 12th edition of the Women in Marketing and Communications Award (WIMCA) 2026.

The WIMCA 2026 award ceremony, held on Saturday, August 29, at the Landmark Event Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos, brought together executives and professionals from across Nigeria’s media, advertising, marketing and communications industries.

Anchored on the theme, “Grow, Give, Glow: Building Resilience for Distinction,” the 12th edition focused on practical approaches to career growth, leadership development and overcoming professional barriers that can prevent women from reaching the highest levels of their industries.

The annual honorary event also celebrated women whose work continues to influence Nigeria’s marketing and communications landscape through leadership, innovation and professional excellence.

The Top 50 recognition is designed to honour women who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and professional excellence within Nigeria’s marketing and communications industry.

Egabor-Afolahan’s inclusion recognises her contribution to the sector and her years of professional experience across strategic communications, marketing, media and business development.

With more than two decades of professional experience, Egabor-Afolahan has built a career spanning several areas of the communications ecosystem. Her work has included strategic communications, marketing, media and business development, with a significant part of her career focused on building commercial and audience-facing strategies.

In her role as Director of Commercial and Communications at News Central TV, where she is also a founding member, she has contributed to initiatives focused on strengthening the station’s engagement with audiences, partners and other stakeholders.

Her recognition comes at a time when women continue to take on increasingly influential roles across Nigeria’s media and communications industries, contributing not only creatively but also to strategy, revenue generation, brand positioning and organisational growth.

For women building careers in communications, marketing and media, recognitions such as WIMCA’s Top 50 provide a reminder that influence can be built across different areas of an organisation. Leadership can mean shaping strategy, creating commercial opportunities, developing brands and helping organisations connect more effectively with their audiences.

Egabor-Afolahan’s recognition therefore goes beyond an individual career milestone. It reflects the expanding role of women in shaping the direction of Nigeria’s marketing, media and communications ecosystem.
