Nigerian comedian Anita Asuoha, popularly known as Real Warri Pikin, has won the Best Stand-Up Comedian award at the 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards, AFRIMMA, held at Annette Strauss Square in Dallas, Texas, on Saturday, September 12.
Announcing the win on Instagram on Sunday, the comedian said she and her team had won the AFRIMMA Best Stand-Up Comedian award for 2026, and thanked her fans for voting for her.
Real Warri Pikin emerged ahead of fellow Nigerians Basketmouth, Bovi, and Godfrey, as well as Kenya’s Eric Omondi and Ty Ngachira, South Africa’s Trevor Noah, and Uganda’s Patrick “Salvado” Idringi, according to the official AFRIMMA nominee list for the category.
The win adds to a string of international recognitions for the comedian this year. In June, she wrapped the American leg of her “In My Element” tour with shows in Dallas and Houston that drew Nollywood stars including Richard Mofe-Damijo, Uche Jombo, and Chioma Chukwuka, and during the Houston leg she received the African Comedy Excellence Award from the Global African Diaspora Awards, in recognition of her contributions to comedy and entertainment.
Born Anita Alaire Afoke Asuoha in Warri, Delta State, Real Warri Pikin has built her career in stand-up comedy since 2008 and has become known for her energetic delivery, relatable storytelling, and use of Nigerian Pidgin to connect with audiences. Beyond entertainment, she runs the Real Warri Pikin Foundation, which supports women managing mental health struggles.
The 2026 edition of AFRIMMA brought together entertainers from across Africa and the diaspora, marking the event’s return after a two-year break, with the ceremony forming part of a festival weekend that also featured performances from leading African artistes at Annette Strauss Square.
