Nigerian celebrity weddings are rarely short on spectacle, but a handful of 2025’s biggest unions skipped the familiar reception hall altogether in favour of destinations abroad.

From a three-continent trilogy to a fireworks-filled French finale, here are four brides whose weddings became travel stories in their own right:

    1. Temi Otedola & Mr Eazi — Monaco, Dubai and Reykjavik, Iceland

Actress and fashion personality Temi Otedola, daughter of billionaire Femi Otedola, married Afrobeats star Mr Eazi in three ceremonies on three continents over the summer of 2025. It began with a civil wedding at the Mairie de Monaco on May 9, a date chosen to mark what would have been the groom’s late mother’s birthday, before the couple moved on to a traditional Yoruba wedding at the Otedola family home in Dubai on July 5.

The celebrations then closed in Iceland, where the couple exchanged vows inside Reykjavik’s Hallgrimskirkja church on August 8 and held their reception at Kleif Farm just outside the capital. There, John Legend made a surprise appearance, singing as the couple danced beneath the midnight sun, capping a three-part celebration reported to have cost around $15 million.

    2. Priscilla Ojo & Juma Jux — Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Influencer Priscilla Ojo, daughter of Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, married Tanzanian R&B star Juma Jux in a celebration that began in Tanzania, where the couple held an Islamic Nikkah wedding in Dar es Salaam in February 2025 in front of guests including Diamond Platnumz and Zuchu.

They later held a traditional Yoruba ceremony and a white wedding back home, with Priscilla’s outfits blending aso oke and Tanzanian beadwork throughout, before closing out the festivities with a final reception back in Tanzania.

    3. Chioma Rowland & Davido — Miami, Florida

Afrobeats star Davido and his longtime partner Chioma Rowland took the final chapter of their three part wedding abroad too, exchanging vows in a white wedding in Miami, Florida, on August 10, 2025, under the hashtag #Chivido2025. It followed an earlier court wedding and a traditional ceremony held back home, but the Miami leg was the one guests were asked to dress up for, keeping to a black-tie code so the spotlight stayed on the couple.

Davido marked the occasion with a gift of a diamond studded Richard Mille wristwatch for his bride, reported to be worth around $300,000, and later said the day’s celebrations had cost $3.7 million in cash altogether.

    4. Kene Obiejesi & Ugochukwu Okonkwo — Provence, France

Kenechukwu “Kene” Obiejesi, daughter of Nigerian billionaire Ernest Azudialu Obiejesi, closed out her wedding to business executive Ugochukwu Okonkwo with a destination ceremony at Villa Baulieu in Provence, France, on June 7, 2025, months after an earlier traditional wedding back home.

The couple exchanged vows in the venue’s vineyard gardens, guests shaded from the Provencal sun by parasols, before a reception that featured French mimes, a live painter and a fireworks finale, then a honeymoon that carried them through Denmark, London, Colombia and Brazil.
