Africa Magic celebrates the life and career of late veteran actor Sir Olu Jacobs with a special documentary, Doyen of Nollywood: Celebrating Olu Jacobs.

The documentary, directed by filmmaker Femi Odugbemi and produced by Zuri 24 Media, will explore Jacobs’ decades-long career across theatre, television and film, as well as his contribution to Nigeria’s entertainment industry.

Jacobs, who died on September 16, was widely recognised as one of Nigeria’s most influential actors, with a career spanning several decades and performances across stage and screen.

The documentary will feature reflections from actors and industry figures who knew and worked with him, including Joke Silva, Afolabi Adesanya, Taiwo Ajai-Lycett, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Patience Ozokwor, Kate Henshaw and Jahman Anikulapo.

Through their recollections, Doyen of Nollywood will revisit Jacobs’ memorable performances while highlighting the discipline, professionalism and influence that shaped his career and the wider Nigerian acting industry.

The documentary premieres on Africa Magic Showcase today, Friday, September 25, at 6:35 p.m.

It will be rebroadcast on Africa Magic Showcase on Saturday, September 26, at 10:30 p.m.; Monday, September 28, at 4:30 p.m.; and Wednesday, September 30, at 2:35 p.m.

It will also air on Africa Magic Epic on September 27, 28, 29 and 30, and on Africa Magic Family on September 26, with additional repeat broadcasts on September 27 and 29.

The special broadcasts give audiences an opportunity to revisit the career of one of Nollywood’s most recognisable veterans and remember his contribution to Nigerian theatre, television and film.
