GTCO Fashion Weekend Releases “The Gele Edit” Ahead of November 7 to 8 Event in Lagos

GTCO Fashion Weekend has released a new gele editorial ahead of this year’s event, which is scheduled to hold on November 7 and 8 in Lagos. Titled The Gele Edit, the editorial was created for the 2026 GTCO Fashion Weekend Magazine.

According to GTCO Fashion Weekend, the editorial takes a familiar cultural staple and pushes it into a more contemporary fashion space. It said The Gele Edit features sculptural folds and unexpected pairings, adding that the styling approach lets the gele feel less ceremonial and more editorial. The gele has long been associated with weddings, celebrations and other ceremonial occasions in Nigeria. The editorial moves it away from that setting and treats it as a fashion statement in its own right.

GTCO Fashion Weekend said the editorial was photographed by Lasalvy and features talents Helena Khalessi and Perpetua Oforah. The gele was styled by Crown Gele, while the makeup was done by House of Rheevo.

A behind-the-scenes video from the making of The Gele Edit has also been shared alongside the photos. The editorial was released as part of the build-up to this year’s GTCO Fashion Weekend, which holds on November 7 and 8 in Lagos.
