VFD Group Plc has appointed Ijeoma Emezie-Ezigbo as its first Deputy Managing Director, creating a new executive position as the investment company strengthens its leadership structure and long-term governance framework.

The appointment took effect on October 5, 2026, and brings more than two decades of experience in corporate finance, transaction advisory, mergers and acquisitions, business valuation and strategic financial management to the Group’s executive leadership.

Emezie-Ezigbo most recently served as Partner and Head of Transaction Services for West Africa, at KPMG Nigeria. Her career also includes senior roles at Stanbic IBTC Group, IBM Canada and Canadian Tire Corporation, spanning financial services, corporate advisory and business management.

The Deputy Managing Director position is newly created, making Emezie-Ezigbo the first person to occupy the role at VFD Group. According to Group Managing Director Nonso Okpala, the decision reflects the company’s commitment to building an institution with stronger governance structures, leadership capacity and succession planning.

He said Emezie-Ezigbo’s experience in transaction advisory, corporate finance and strategic management would add depth to the executive team as the company continues to build for the future. The appointment forms part of VFD Group’s broader effort to establish a leadership structure capable of sustaining its operations and growth beyond any single individual.

Before joining VFD Group, Emezie-Ezigbo built her career across major corporate and financial institutions, most recently leading Transaction Services for West Africa at KPMG Nigeria. Her academic background includes a First-Class Honours degree in Business Administration, specialising in Marketing, from the University of Nigeria, a Master of Finance degree from Cass Business School in London, and completion of the Advanced Management Programme at Lagos Business School.

She also holds several professional qualifications, including Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Associate Chartered Certified Accountant, Chartered Professional Accountant in Ontario, Canada, and Certified Valuation Analyst. Speaking on her appointment, Emezie-Ezigbo said she looked forward to contributing her experience in corporate finance, transactions and strategic management to strengthening governance, supporting sound decision-making and creating sustainable long-term value across the Group.
